Perennials >> Perennials, 1 Gallon
Our one gallon perennials are grown here at our Westen New York greenhouse. Some varieties are second year grown from seed. Others are vegetative, that is we have propogated from cutting or division.
A classic buddleia. This variety has long been treasured for its showy panicles of very dark violet to dark purple flowers which appear over a long period from late summer into fall. The long, gray-green leaves and tall, upright stems form a large shrub which can grow up to 10' tall. 'Black Knight' has proven to be a vigorous grower and a very hardy selection.
Butterfly Bushes have certainly earned their place in the garden over the years, and its easy to see why. Just when we need a breath of fresh air in the late summer heat, they happily burst into bloom. At a time when many other plants are already spent, buddleias are just beginning their show. Their passive coloring and texture makes a wonderful backdrop for perennials, and you'll love the butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds that flock to their honey-scented blossoms.
Origin: Not Native to North America
Perennials are plants that complete their lifecycle in three or more years.
We carefully select perennial varieties that will do well in our Western New York Gardens. All our perennials are hardy to Zone 6 for those of us nearer to the lake, and most are hardy to Zone 5.
